Recommended Philadelphia Music Venues and Theaters

Visitors to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania should schedule time to go and visit the numerous cultural venues in the town. Concert halls in Philadelphia range all the way from intimate to great, while Philadelphia theaters host top-flight performances. Whether you like opera or ballet, jazz or rock, one of the many performing arts centres, concert halls and theaters in Philadelphia will provide the perfect locale.

Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is home to two Philadelphia theaters, Verizon Hall, a 2,500-set concert hall, and the 650-seat Pearlman Theater. The Pearlman Theater hosts a range of shows, from plays and comedy shows to musical performances. Verizon Hall is home to a few performing humanities groups, such as Philadanco, Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Temple Performing Arts Theater

Set on the Temple University campus, the Temple Performing Arts Theater was built as a church building in 1891. After a 2010 remodel, this location is one of newest theaters in Philadelphia. This historic structure seats 1,100 guests and hosts musical, dance and theater performances. Performances in the past include the the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, the Compania Flamenca Jose Porcel dance troupe and the Temple University Sinfonia and Symphony Orchestra.

Electric Factory

The Electric Factory is one of the very oldest concert halls in Philadelphia, first opening in 1964. The Electric Factory underwent a major rebuilding before reopening in the mid-1990s. More intimate than some other Philly concert halls, this venue seats from 2,500 to 3,000 spectators. Some past performances include headliners from the musical worlds of rap, grunge, heavy metal and many other genres. The lower level of the Electric Factory is open to guests 18 years and older, while the upper level serves drinks to guests 21+.

Citizens Bank Park

The Philadelphia Phillies are the city's Major League Baseball team. The Phillies play ball at Citizens Bank Park, which also hosts a range of concerts and other large events. The locale seats more than 43,600 guests and is also home to shops, cafes and gaming on Ashburn Street. Guests are encouraged to enjoy a cheesesteak while watching concerts by artists like Elton John, Jimmy Buffet and Bon Jovi.

The Wells Fargo Center

The Wells Fargo Center can accomodate more than 20,000 spectators. The arena's oval shape makes sure that each seat has a good view whether you're sitting in the mezzanine, a suite, the club box or on the lower level. The Wells Fargo Center hosts more than 250 events each year, from skating competitions to circuses, NBA and NHL games, as well as major demonstrations by musicians such as Billy Joel, the Foo Fighters and Ray Charles.
