In terms of kids playthings and puzzles, LEGO is certainly a brand that will ring bells; ever since 1949 they've provided thousands of children across the world with the opportunity to let their imagination go wild with vibrant iconic blocks of many styles, forms and colors.

Luckily, the Danish manufacturer has successfully passed the test of time and even today they are a big participant in the children's toy industry, with one of their latest products being the LEGO 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge. This set recreates the plot from the popular movie Pirates of the Caribbean and its reputable and charming, Queen Anne's Revenge. The vessel comes complete with LEGO figurines Backbeared, Jack Sparrow, Angelica, the quartermaster along with two pirate miniatures.

This set features :

- 1097 pieces in total. - The set features a ship with large sails, spectacular fire lanterns, and canons. - Heroes include: Jack Sparrow, Angelica, Blackbeard, chef two pirate figures. - Detachable captain's quarters.

To commence, this set is most clearly a high quality LEGO set (and is shown from its price). LEGO has done an amazing job with all the measure of detail, and it's unfair to compare this set with most other LEGO sets. The set is really detailed it almost becomes less of a toy and more of a showpiece model. All the pieces are made from superior materials, plus the small plastic blocks are seemingly unbreakable as they always were.

Among the beauties of Lego as a puzzle is that you have the flexibility to shape what sort of end result will be. And thus you're by no means required to refer to the manual and can simply put together a little something of your own. Presenting over a thousand parts, the LEGO 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge absolutely gives you the flexibility to bring the story of Blackbeard and Jack Sparrow to life the way you like.

Those that want to create the ship the actual way it was intended to be put together will probably be relieved to hear that you have seven various bags ideally labelled 1 through 7, each of them coming with unique instruction details. If you aren't trying to find something too complex, this can be the perfect fit. Needless to say, you can always make the process difficult by disregarding the instructions and simply mixing up all the pieces; so you are really the one deciding how complicated the complete process is going to be.

Though as alluring and attractive this set is, it's not necessarily a perfect kids toy. For starters, although each piece is individually made from quality materials, the entire process of assembly can become annoying at times as there are some pieces which don't hold together very tightly and are easily disconnected. This may really be a problem if the set is meant for a young child as they generally have little patience when it comes to such things. This especially goes for the masts as they can come off very easily, not to mention the captain's deck being a bit weak.

In general, it's only fair to say that LEGO has done a tremedous task with detailing this stunning set. It's really a spectacular looking ship and makes a perfect gift for almost anybody (not just kids). While it does have minor drawbacks, we still believe that it is worthy of purchasing whether you are trying to have Blackbeard's ship displayed in your house or simply aiming to have fun with letting ideas go wild on a thousand LEGO pieces.
